Backstory

The backstory explains how your character arrived at the start of the adventure. It can range from heroic, tragic, or mundane origins. For example, a character might have grown up as a farmer before discovering magical talent, or been a street urchin learning to survive by cunning. The key is consistency: a wizard cannot logically come from a remote village with no knowledge of magic. Your backstory should provide context for your character’s skills, motivations, and personality.

DMs can weave your backstory into the game in meaningful ways. If your character was separated from their family, the DM might arrange a reunion or a search quest. If they trained in a magical academy, former teachers or rivals may appear. A well-written backstory allows the DM to craft personalized challenges, rewards, and story arcs, making your in-game experience feel unique and memorable.
